Frequently asked questions

Listening

How do I listen?

Press play on the big player at the top of the homepage. On any other page, press Listen in the top bar, or on a phone tap the Listen live bar at the bottom of the screen. That opens a small pop-out player that keeps playing while you look around the site.

Is it free?

Yes. Listening is free, live and on all day, with no sign-up. The station is paid for by local sponsors and by listeners who choose to chip in.

How do I listen in the car?

Start the station on your phone, in the app or on the website, then connect your phone to the car by Bluetooth or a cable. The song name shows on most car screens, and the play and pause buttons on the steering wheel work.

Can I play the station on my TV or smart speaker?

Yes. Press play, then press the Cast button next to the player in Chrome and pick your Chromecast, Google TV or Nest speaker. On an iPhone, iPad or Mac, use the AirPlay button in Safari for Apple TV, HomePod and AirPlay speakers. For an Echo or another Bluetooth speaker, pair your phone with it and play the station on your phone.

Can I use VLC, iTunes or another music player?

Yes. On How to Listen, press Download .m3u or Download .pls and open the file in your player, or press Copy and paste the stream address into the player.

The music uses a lot of my mobile data. Can I use less?

When the station has its data saver stream on, a Data saver button shows next to the player on the homepage and in the pop-out player. Turn it on and the music uses much less data. Your choice is remembered on that phone.

The player won't start. What can I try?

Press play once more, and check your volume and that the tab is not muted. If your network blocks the usual stream, the player switches to a backup address by itself, so give it a few seconds. Still nothing? Open Support and tell us which phone, browser, car or speaker you were using.

The app

Is there an app?

Yes, our own free app with the live player, the schedule, replays, song requests and voice shout-outs. Open twineaglesradio.net/app on your phone. You don't need an app store.

How do I put the app on my iPhone?

Open twineaglesradio.net/app in Safari, tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen. Open it from your home screen from then on, so alerts and reminders can work.

How do I put the app on my Android phone?

Open twineaglesradio.net/app in Chrome and tap Install at the top of the app. If you don't see it, open the Chrome menu and tap Add to Home screen.

How do I find out when a DJ goes live?

In the app, open Schedule and tap Tell me when a DJ goes live, then allow notifications. You'll get a notification when a live show starts, and the station may also send closings and severe weather warnings. Tap Stop live alerts to switch them off.

Can I get a reminder before a show starts?

Yes, two ways. In the app, tap the bell next to a show in Schedule and your phone buzzes about 10 minutes before it starts. On the website, press Add to calendar next to a followed show on the Show Schedule to put it in your calendar with a 10-minute reminder.

My alerts don't arrive.

On an iPhone, the app must be added to your Home Screen and opened from there before alerts can work. If the app says notifications are blocked, allow them for the app in your phone's settings, then tap Tell me when a DJ goes live again. Alerts are set up per phone.

Can I fall asleep or wake up to the radio?

Yes. Tap Sleep in the app (or use the Sleep timer next to the player on the website) and the music fades out and stops. In the app, the same sheet has Wake me up: pick a time and tap Set alarm, then leave the app open on screen and plugged in. Night clock shows a dim clock while you sleep.

Requests and shout-outs

Can I request a song?

Anyone can, and no account is needed. Press Request a Song, search the music library and pick a track to queue it, or type the song in and the DJs will see it. You can add a shout-out or a message with your request.

How do I know if my request played?

In the app, every song you request from that phone is listed under My requests for three days. It says it is in the queue, that it was sent to the DJs, or the time it played.

Can I send a shout-out?

Yes. In the app, open Request and tap Shout-out. Say who it's for and what you'd like said, and the DJs read shout-outs on air. On the website, write it in the Shoutout / Message box when you request a song.

Can I send a shout-out in my own voice?

Yes, in the app. Open Request, tap Voice and record up to 35 seconds. Listen back, tick the box that says it's OK to play it on air, and press Send my voice shout-out. A DJ listens to it before it goes on the air.

Shows, songs and replays

What's on, and when?

The On the air today card on the homepage lists today's shows with their DJs and times, and marks the one on air now. The Show Schedule lists every show by day, in Central time. Between shows we play nonstop music.

How do I follow a show?

On the Show Schedule or a DJ's page, press Follow next to the show. It then shows under Your shows on the schedule with when it's next on, and the homepage reminds you of the next one. If you're signed in, your follows are saved to your account and show on every device.

I missed a show. Can I hear it again?

Yes. Open Replays on the website or in the app. On the website, a replay picks up where you stopped, with Resume at and the time, and Start over. You can also add the replays feed shown on the Replays page to a podcast app.

Why did I hear a replay of a show?

Some shows come to us from other stations each week. When a new episode hasn't reached us in time, we play an earlier episode instead of leaving the slot empty.

What was that song?

Open Recently Played. Pick a day and a time, or search the last 90 days by song or artist, and press Find. Each song has a Listen menu with Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music. In the app, tap See all under Recently played on the Listen screen.

Can I save a song I like?

In the app, tap Save under the song playing, or the heart on any song in the history. Find them again under See all, then Saved. Saved songs stay on your phone.

What do the thumbs up and down buttons do?

They tell the DJs which songs you like and which ones aren't for you. No account is needed, you get one vote per song per day, and pressing it again takes your vote back.

Can I contact a DJ directly?

If the DJ has set it up, their page on Meet the DJs has a Get in touch box with buttons such as Call, Text, WhatsApp, Signal, Messenger, Telegram, Email and Discord. During some live shows the app also shows Call the DJ and a Live wall.

Account and games

Do I need an account?

Not to listen, request songs, rate songs or play most games. A free account lets you join the live chat, save game scores to the leaderboards, play Poker, vote for indie artists, post in the Swap Shop, earn badges and keep your followed shows on every device.

How do I make an account or sign in?

Press Join at the top of any page, fill in a display name, username, email and a password of at least 8 characters, and press Create Account. Next time, press Sign In and use your email or username.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Press Sign In, then Forgot password?, type the email on your account and press Send Reset Link. The link in the email works for one hour and lets you set a new password.

Are the games free?

Yes, and you can play as a guest. There's Test Your Music IQ, Unscramble the Classics, a newspaper-size Crossword for each day of the week plus minis, Word Find, UNO, Solitaire, Poker and three arcade games. Sign in to save your scores and make the leaderboards. Poker needs an account because it seats real players.

How do contests work?

If you can't use the app, you can enter free by email. The Contest rules page has the details and recent winners.

What do you do with my information?

We only keep what you type into a form, or what a feature needs to work. The Privacy page explains each part, the Google cookies and how to opt out, and how to ask for a copy of your information or have it deleted.

1. How to listen

TwinEagles Radio is free, live and on all day. You don't need to sign up.

  1. On the homepage, press play on the big player at the top. Rate the song with the thumbs, set a Sleep timer, or press Pop out player.
  2. On every other page, press Listen in the top bar. On a phone, tap the Listen live bar at the bottom of the screen. The pop-out player opens in its own small window, so the music keeps going while you browse.
  3. On mobile data, turn on Data saver when you see it next to the player.

In the car, start the station on your phone and connect to the car by Bluetooth or a cable. On a TV or speaker, press the Cast button next to the player in Chrome, or the AirPlay button in Safari. If a network blocks the usual stream, the player switches to a backup address by itself, so you don't need to do anything.

2. The listener app

The TwinEagles Radio app is free and lives on your home screen. It doesn't need an app store.

  1. iPhone or iPad: open twineaglesradio.net/app in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Open it from the new icon from then on.
  2. Android: open it in Chrome and tap Install at the top of the app, or use the Chrome menu and Add to Home screen.
  3. Use the five tabs along the bottom: Listen, Schedule, Replays, DJs and Request.

Tap See all under Recently played to open What was that song?, where you can filter by song or artist and find your saved songs. During live shows, Listen also shows a Live wall where you can post to the DJ (a DJ approves posts first) and, when the DJ has set one up, Call the DJ. The Look card at the bottom switches between Auto, Light and Dark.

Schedule starts with today's shows, upcoming events and game days, with a bell on each show for reminders. Replays plays shows you missed, with buttons to go back 15 seconds or forward 30. Starting a replay stops the live stream. DJs shows our DJs and when they're on. Request is for song requests, shout-outs and voice shout-outs.

The Sleep sheet stops the radio after 15 minutes to an hour and a half, fading out over the last 30 seconds. Its Wake me up part starts the radio at a time you pick: tap Set alarm, then leave the app open on screen and plugged in, because phones don't let a web app wake itself up. Night clock shows a big dim clock; tap it to go back.

When an update is ready, the app tells you and waits for you to tap Refresh, so the music is never cut off. Your phone's lock screen, car and headphone buttons control the player.

To send a shout-out, open Request in the app and tap Shout-out. Add who it's for and your message, and the DJs read shout-outs on air. Tap Voice to record up to 35 seconds in your own voice, tick the box to say it's OK to play it, and press Send my voice shout-out. A DJ listens before anything goes on the air. On the website, write a shout-out in the Shoutout / Message box of your request.

  4. To stop live alerts, tap Stop live alerts.

6. Games

All the games on the Games page are free, and you can play as a guest. Sign in to save your scores and appear on the leaderboards.

Test Your Music IQ asks 10 questions with 15 seconds each, in themes from music to sci-fi to country life. Unscramble the Classics has a new song title every day. Click a square to start, and click it again or press Space to switch between across and down. Use Check word, or More for checking a square or the whole puzzle, revealing, and Clear all. Your progress is saved for each puzzle. Word Find hides words across, down and on the diagonal.

UNO, Solitaire and Poker have a Table menu to change the look. Poker needs an account because it seats real players. The Arcade has Static Invaders, Equalizer Breakout and Signal Snake, which work with a keyboard or the buttons on a phone screen; P or Esc pauses. Every game has a sound switch in its top bar, and sound starts off.

  1. Press Join at the top of any page. Fill in Display Name, Username, Email and Password (at least 8 characters), and press Create Account.
  2. Next time, press Sign In and use your email or username.
  3. To see your page, open your name at the top and choose My Profile. Press Edit Profile to change your cover photo, picture, display name, location and bio, then Save Changes.

Your profile shows your Game Scores and your Badges, with what you've earned and what's up next. Forgot your password? Press Sign In, then Forgot password?, and we'll email you a link that works for one hour.

9. Weather, news and closings

Weather shows conditions and the next few days for towns around Clarks, Siouxland and the region. Search any city, or press My Location. Show Live Radar opens the radar. News, Sports, Farm Markets and Events & Games are in the News & Sports menu.

Storm & Closings shows National Weather Service alerts for our area and the closings and late starts we've been told about. It refreshes itself every two minutes, and when there's a warning or a closing today, a strip at the top of the homepage links to it.

To post a closing for your school, church, business or event, scroll to Report a closing, fill in the name, town, what's happening, the day and how to reach you, and press Send it to the station. We check each report before it goes up. Storm & Closings is a courtesy and not part of the Emergency Alert System, so use NOAA Weather Radio or your phone's emergency alerts for official warnings.

10. Chat, Swap Shop and getting involved

Live Chat is where listeners and DJs talk during the day; you need a free account to post. The Swap Shop is for things for sale, wanted, free, lost and found: press Post something, fill it in and press Send for approval. A moderator checks each post first.

For a quick note about something broken, use Report a Bug. To suggest something new, open Ideas & Add-ons on the Support page, vote for ideas you like, or send your own with Submit idea.

12. Privacy

You can listen without an account and without telling us anything. We only keep what you type into a form, or what a feature needs to work. Some things stay only on your device, such as your volume, shows you follow without an account, songs you saved in the app and your game progress. Clearing your browser or app data removes them.

The Privacy page explains each part, including the Google cookies on some pages and how to opt out. The app has its own shorter page at twineaglesradio.net/app/privacy.html. To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email web@twineaglesradio.net.

Nothing matches that. Try a shorter word, or ask us on Support.
